A beautiful collection of eight Louisa May Alcott volumes ready to grace a collector’s shelf. All published by Little, Brown, and Co., Boston.

16mo. Hardcovers. Brown cloth covered boards with black stamping on covers, and gold colored gilt and black stamping on the spines.

Externally in lovely presentable condition. Internally, all have flaws characteristic of loved-antiquarian books. Details noted below:

Little Women: or, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy

Published by Little, Brown, & Co., Boston. (nd)

Lacks title page and frontispiece. Date unknown but certainly after 1898 when Roberts Brothers became Little, Brown, and Co.

Poor/Fair condition inside. Cover is detaching from the binding and the first signature section is loose. Otherwise, the binding inside remains good.

Little Men: Life at Plumfield with Jo’s Boys

Little, Brown, and Co., Boston. (1916).

The cover is very stiff to open and it appears a poor repair job was made long ago on the cover. Lumpiness on the spine likely from that repair attempt.

Jo’s Boys, and How They Turned Out

Little, Brown, and Co., Boston. (1916)

Very Good condition save for an approximately 1/3” tear at the top of the spine ending just before the title, and a noticeable white scuff on the spine.

An Old-Fashioned Girl

Little, Brown, and Co., Boston (1915)

Good Condition. Light wear around the top and bottom of the spine and minor bumping of the corners. Inside, there is loosening of the front cover joint and endpapers. Otherwise, the binding remains very good.  Clean and crisp pages.

Eight Cousins, or, The Aunt Hill

Little, Brown, and Co., Boston. (1916). Inside, the binding is cracked at the frontispiece with exposure of the front hinge and loosening of the cover. Otherwise, the remainer of the volume is in very good condition with clean and crisp pages.

Rose in Bloom. A Sequel to “Eight Cousins”

Little, Brown, and Co., Boston (1916)

Gift Inscription inside: “Merry Christmas Eleanor, from Aunt May, 1918)

Very Good Condition. Light shelf wear to the top of the spine.

Under the Lilacs

Little, Brown, and Co., Boston. (1917)

Gift inscription inside: “Eleanor from Aunt May. Dec. 25, 1918”.

Very Good Condition. Light shelf wear to the top and bottom of the spine. Small white mark on the cover just over the word “the”.

Jack and Jill: A Village Story

Little, Brown, and Co., Boston. (1917)

Gift inscription inside: To Eleanor from Aunt May. Christmas 1918.

Good/Very Good Condition. Some fading to the gilt on the spine under the title.
