Concord Mass
October 14th [18]99
My dear Mrs. Hosmer
Kindly convey through this card my very great regret that I cannot accept the invitation of the Lucy Jackson Chapter D.A.R. to meet Miss Haggett our State Regent. Next Thursday, I have an engagement of long outstanding for that day and hour. I want very much to accept your hospitality as a Chapter. And thank you all, and Mrs. Raymond for remembering me. I have often wanted to visit you, and am more sorry than I can express that I am unable to at this time. I also should be delighted to see our State Regent again, for I much enjoy meeting her. With best wishes for the success of the afternoon which I feel is already assured.
I beg you to believe me, my dear Mrs. Hosmer
most sincerely yours
Harriet M. Lothrop
