Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott

British edition published by Sampson Low, Marston, and Company, Ltd.

c. 1915-1920

Little Men is the third book in the Louisa May Alcott's Little Women Series. In 1871, Louisa was traveling in Rome, Italy, when word reached her that her eldest sister Anna's husband, John Pratt, had suddenly died leaving Anna with two young sons. Determined to support her sister and nephews, Louisa sat down and penned Little Men. The novel picked up where Little Women Part First and Second had left off. The book was a success and Louisa was able to support Anna and the boys.

A circa 1915-1920 edition, this particular copy offered here was printed in London, spent a lifetime in the UK, before traveling across the Atlantic to Louisa's hometown of Concord, Massachusetts and into Barrow Bookstore which is one block away from the house where Anna Alcott and her young sons lived after her husband died.

Condition is fair/good with some rubbing and bumping on teal-green cover. To left of spine by back cover joint, there is a 2.5" straight line tear between spine and back cover. The color is more vibrant than our camera captured. Gold gilt and decorations are bright and crisp. Binding is secure with some cracking and exposing of the hinges not affecting structure.

This is a beautiful shelf copy and will display nicely in an Alcott book collection.
