Straight from London comes this LITTLE WIVES, a pirated of edition of Louisa May Alcott's LITTLE WOMEN Part Second.

Originally publsihed by Louisa May Alcott under the title of LITTLE WOMEN Part Second (1869), Louisa's sequel to LITTLE WOMEN was a coveted prey by overseas publishers, and when she published Part Second, British publishers pounced! Without permission or compensating Louisa, a variety of publishers published LITTLE WOMEN Part Second under their own titles. British titles included  LITTLE WIVES, NICE WIVES, LITTLE WOMEN WEDDED, or LITTLE WOMEN MARRIED.

No date, this book is c. 1900 and part of the Warne's Star Series.  and was published in London by Frederick Warne and Co. Warne and Co. eventually became the publishers for Beatrix Potter, but until that time, they made a portion of their sales based on works stolen from American Authors. Tsk tsk. But they sure bound their books in lovely covers.

Overall condition is  Good / Very Good for its age. Green cloth embossed binding adonred with gold-colored gilt. Cover is bright and clean. Spine is also bright and clean but possibly has light sun fading.

Some bumping to book cover board corners. Along crease where spine meets the cover, there are two small holes in the green cloth. And a similar small hole at crease where spine meets back cover. Normal age scuffing and wear to back cover.

Internally, the binding is secure with some cracking and exposure of joints.
