8vo. Hardcover. Red cloth covered boards with gold imprinted title and design on spine and cover. Chocolate endpapers. 
The first owner's name inside reading: "Hatty A. Sawyer. April 9 1870". 
 
Fair Condition with a shelf lean. Some wear and loss of cloth at the top of the spine. Signs of scuffing on front and back cover and cosmetic wear to cloth along spine joint with cover. At the bottom of the spine, there is rybbing over the gold gilt with some loss over the "BO" in Boston, and the "BE" in Roberts. Minor bumping of corners, more pronounced on front cover top right corner where this is a small exposure of the board. 
Inside, the binding is good with some cosmetic cracking and exposure of hinges.
 
In short, this is a first edition that was well-loved by previous owners, and ready to be carefully read and loved by you or your recipient of choice.
