Octavo, original blue publisher’s cloth stamped in gold. 408 pages, indexed, with 36 illustrations, including folding maps, plus 12 pages of ads at the rear. Fold-out seven panel chromolithographic frontispiece of “A View of West Point on Hudson’s River” by Major L’Enfant, Engineer. Illustrations include folding plates and one chromolithograph of the Grand Arbor and Colonnade at West Point.  (Howes B678; Sabin 7150)

 

Condition Notes:  Good Condition with Very Good Condition binding.

Cover and back are a lovely royal blue with some soiling. The spine is darkened with time. Gold gilt on the is slightly dulled but remains nicely and easily readable.

Front inner hinge cracked with cover loosening at the top; spine extremities lightly worn with noticeable fraying at the top of spine. Minor bumping to book corners with small amount of exposure of boards, more pronounced on the bottom.      

The binding is Very Good.

1.5” seam tear along a bottom fold of Plan of Westpoint map by page 86.

Folding map at page 283 has two small tears on the seams; one on the edge is about ¼”, and one at binding is ~1/4”.
