The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Published while Hawthorne was living in England and working as the American Consul to Britain, this is an 1853 early British Edition of his The Scarlet Letter and was published by George Routledge & Co., London
Overall, good condition hardcover in original maroon cloth with gold-gilt lettering on spine. Cloth is sun faded on spine and top of book (based on fading, appears to have been shelved next to shorter books on either side). Some wrinkling to top and bottom of spine and light bumping on bottom corners of boards. Binding is good and pages are crisp with some light foxing in a few places but not throughout.
